Lyrics Thoughts And Prayers

Thoughts And Prayers
Words & Music ©2023 Jesse, James & Rudy

The street I grew up in
ain’t my home no more
dealers cross the street
and cops at the door
The schools children go to
ain’t safe no more
shots during lunch
bodies at the floor

(chorus)
Thoughts and prayers
is that all we can do?
Thoughts and prayers
For the lives they blew?
Thoughts and prayers
killing is a sin
but we all want them guns
we’re in – up to the chin!

People dying, families crying,
Lives are lost, by our gun laws,
It’s time for change, Can’t stay the same,
How many more, will die in vain?
Guns in the wrong hands, tearing through our lands,
United we stand divided we fall
We need to take a stand and push gun laws

It is time, to go
and make a song
And we’re havin’ fun,
while we’re jammin out
this is what we do,
all the time
and we’re feeling so blessed
making songs right now

(chorus)

Now mister, the NRA
Might sponsor your seat
the right bear Arms
is it more important
than your grandchildrens’ lives?
you cherish your guns
while the poor have no food to eat ?

(chorus)

Isabando Fantasia #1 SoundClick

Solid Rock Blues Band Charts at SoundClick

Isabando FantasiaAvailable now! Isabando Fantasia, an instrumental blues rock song with influences from The Shadows and the famous Dutch Indorock bands from the sixties! Available at SoundCloud and SoundClick exclusivly!

The name of the song is a mashup of the brand names of the guitars used. Hondo, Samick, Ibanez. I have been influenced by The Shadows and the “indorock” bands like almost everyone in the Netherlands my age (or older). It was the instrumental rockmusic that was on the radio a lot of course in the fifties and sixties and my parents had a collection of these albums. And it was still on the radio when I grew up.

If you like guitars with delay and reverb this is your song. Get if for free!

The song was written and recorded last weekend at the LoftStudio and in the song you hear three different guitars, including a vintage Hondo guitar (the one you hear on the left) and the Ibanez Hollow Body (on the right).

After the release on Sunday (July 10th) the song went straight into the charts at SoundClick and is now at #4 in the subcharts already and #9 in the main charts.

On July 12th it hit #1 in the subcharts and #2 in the main charts!

The Fat Man’s Blues “Hey Baby!”

Hey Babe! (Fat Man Blues)

Too Fat to Share the Bed? The Fat Man’s Blues “Hey Baby!” is out now!

The Fat Man’s Blues “Hey Baby!” now available on Drooble, SoundCloud and BandCamp (download available for €0.75 at BandCamp).

They say every instrument has it’s own song and we can’t agree more. After buying a new, budget but great sounding, Les Paul guitar this song erupted out of it! The Fat Man’s Blues – the man that loves burgers more than his lady.

A fun rock-song with heavy distorted guitars and a catchy hook. Listen for free at Drooble, SoundCloud and BandCamp. Like it? You can download it from BandCamp for only 75 cents.

About the Song

This song was recorded at The LofStudio. We used a free drum backing track, the Harley Benton MM 84A SB Deluxe Bass, Ibanez AS53-TF Hollow Body guitar and a brand new addition to the studio, a Donner DLP-124S (Les Paul). Vocals recorded using the MXL770 Studio Condenser. The basic recording was done using Ardour and final mixing and production with Mixbus.

This song will be part of the new album we’ve been working on for some time now. So far we haven’t had enough time to record all the songs because there were so many other (recording) projects going on at the LoftStudio and a busy work schedule.

A review of the great and very affordable Donner DLP-124S is in the making. We’ll post that later.

Lyrics “Hey Baby!”

Hey Baby (The Fat Man’s Blues)
All rights ©2021 reserved, R. Brinkman/Solid Rock Blues Band

Hey Babe!
Get out of my way
Hey Babe!
Why you say you’re gonna stay

Hey Babe!
There ain’t no room for you
My bed’s to narrow and my body to fat

Hey Babe!
didn’t I make myself clear
Hey Babe!
There ain’t no room, for you overhere

Hey Babe!
get out of my bed
I know you love me but I love my burgers too much

Hey Babe!
Get out of my room
My bed’s to narrow and my body to fat

Hey Babe!
Why don’t you leave me alone
Hey Babe!
It ain’t our love that’s blown up…
It’s me!

Stones For Bread (pre-release)

Stones For Bread Free Download

Stones for Bread is a new rocking blues song by the Solid Rock Blues Band from the Netherlands. The song has been pre-released on SoundCloud and in HQ Audio (CD quality) at BandCamp (check this link).

While trying to complete a few songs for a new album this song was written together with songwriter James Zheutlin more or less as an “in between” song. Based on an acoustic concept song (first demo version below).

Acoustic Demo Version

The acoustic demo version was recorded in the kitchen at the LoftStudio and filmed using a smartphone.

Lyrics Stones For Bread

All rights ©2021 . Words: R. Brinkman/J. Zheutlin

You gave me stones for bread
Stop pretending that we’ve never met
You gave me stones for bread
Stop pretending that we’ve never met
You know I know you so well,
now it’s treason that I smell
You know I know you so well,
now it’s treason that I smell

You gave me stones for bread
Said there ain’t no more room in your bed
You gave me stones for bread
Said there ain’t no more room in your bed
pushed me out of the door,
said don’t “come back here no more!”
pushed me out of the door,
said “don’t come back here no more!”

Will I ever heal?
Only time will tell
Only time will tell
A contract under seal?
Only an empty shell,
Only an empty shell!

You gave me stones for bread
You painted pictures that I never forget
You gave me stones for bread
You painted pictures that I never forget
We once touched Heaven
but now we’re living in hell
We once touched Heaven
but now we’re living in hell

You gave me stones for bread,
You gave me stones for bread…

Recorded using..

Drums & Bass – JJazzLab
Guitars – Harley Benton Telecaster + JoYo American
Vocals – MXL770

The Road To Barna

Road to Barna SoundCloud Download

A song inspired by pictures of Barna, Ireland. Some, perhaps surreal, poetry. Lyrics mixed up with haughtiness and a simple beat with wide vintage guitar drenched in reverb. And no, .. never made it to Barna. Not yet.

Lyrics – The Road To Barna

Road to Barna SoundCloud DownloadWords & Music ©2020 R. Brinkman/Solid Rock Blues Band

Like a lake, pretending to be an ocean
and the moon, pretends to be a star
you pass me by,
as you walk down the street

Like a leaf, pretends to be an tree
and a clock pretends it’s controlling time
your head keeps noddin’ on the beat

So here I am,
try to earn some karma
will it be enough
to pave the way to Barna?

Like a tree, pretends to be an forest
and a drop, pretends to be the rain
you just whist when you pass me by

I want to be
on that road to Barna
hear the Atlantic,
I’ll be there to warn ya..

it’s callin’ me, callin’ me
it’s callin’ me, callin’ me

The official album release will be around October 4th. The album has been submitted for release trough Amuse. We are currently considering re-releasing some older albums trough Amuse also making them available again to the public trough services like Spotify and Amazon Music. Our experiences with DistroKid were fine so far but didn’t turn out to be successful in terms of sales. So we’re giving Amuse a try for distribution! In the end it’s not really sales that are our main goal but getting the music out there the most effective way. It seems Amuse will fit the bill for us.

We, however, always release our albums on BandCamp first. So here it is!

New single released by the Solid Rock Blues Band project. This is the 4th song released over the past few months that will be included in the new album we’re working on!

Lyrics

You Ain’t What I’m Dreaming Of
All rights ©2020 R. Brinkman/Solid Rock Blues Band

It ain’t loneliness that drove me here
and my woman she’s truly sincere
She’s been with me, for so long
And I know I’m treatin’ her wrong

And I know this will break her heart
If I tell here we’ll be apart
Now that I’m here with you
there’s nothing she can do

You ain’t no woman of God, you don’t even come close
You ain’t what I’m dreaming of, so why should I love you?

It ain’t your beauty that drove me here
And I know I should’ve stayed clear
From looking for a woman like you
‘cus now my lady and I are trough

I can’t blame her for being here
Since my woman she’s truly sincere
And I know I’m treatin’ her wrong
She’s been faithful, for so long!

You ain’t no woman of God, you don’t even come close
You ain’t what I’m dreaming of, so why should I love you?

Love You!

Pandemic Blues – Free download from Soundcloud and Soundclick!

When the corona-crisis started, who’d expect it to continue up until today?

So when I recorded a quick, acoustic, song about the pandemic and put it on Youtube I never expected it to be relevant today.. but it still is! Last weekend I went into the studio and recorded a full version in the studio. Decided to make it available as a free download. Because it’s bad enough we all got hit by Corona and I do not want to make money from that.

If you’re interested in buying some of my tracks, please check out my BandCamp site. There’s a great offer available: buy all tracks with a huge discount.

This track is a free download trough SoundCloud (see above) and SoundClick. Some details about the song. Both are in HQ mp3-quality.

LYRICS

When A Woman Drinks Alone
Words & Music ©2020 R. Brinkman

When a man drinks alone
you bet his love has gone
he’s lost all tears
drinks away his fears
when a man drinks alone (2x)

When I drink alone
My trouble won’t be gone
I don’t drink to forget,
Since we’ve never met
When I drink, on my own (2x)

When a woman drinks alone
you bet it won’t be for long
there’s always someone
who offers her one more
when a woman drinks alone (2x)

Don’t Say We’re Over!

Slow rocksong, lovesick, broken heart. Male vocals. Heavy guitars. Don’t Say We’re Over. The new single by the Solid Rock Blues Band has been released today on SoundCloud and BandCamp.

Free streaming at BandCamp as well as on SoundCloud. If you’d like to download it, you can buy the single at BandCamp.
It’s yours  for only USD $0.79

The single was recorded at our home-studio and written and performed by Rudy using a Digitech Trio for Drums & Bass, Gretsch Electromatic, Harley Benton Telecaster and Fender Starcaster Stratocaster, so yeah you guessed it: lot’s of guitar on this track! There’s clearly heavy blues influence but it sure ain’t your standard 12-bar blues song. It’s more a slow rock or perhaps blues rock song.
