Slow Rock song Don't Say We're Over free streaming

Don’t Say We’re Over (new single)

Slow rocksong, lovesick, broken heart. Male vocals. Heavy guitars. Don’t Say We’re Over. The new single by the Solid Rock Blues Band has been released today on SoundCloud and BandCamp.

Free streaming at BandCamp as well as on SoundCloud. If you’d like to download it, you can buy the single at BandCamp.
It’s yours  for only USD $0.79

The single was recorded at our home-studio and written and performed by Rudy using a Digitech Trio for Drums & Bass, Gretsch Electromatic, Harley Benton Telecaster and Fender Starcaster Stratocaster, so yeah you guessed it: lot’s of guitar on this track! There’s clearly heavy blues influence but it sure ain’t your standard 12-bar blues song. It’s more a slow rock or perhaps blues rock song.

Details about the recording, for those interested:

  • Drums, Bass: Digitech Trio
  • Gretsch Electromatic & Stratocaster effects: Mooer effects pedal (review)
  • Telecaster: JoYo “American” sound (Fender Amp simulation)
  • DAW: Ardour
  • Interface: Behringer UMC404HD
  • Vocal mic: MXL770

Nationale Bevrijdingsdag - National Liberation Day The Netherlands

National Liberation Day – The Netherlands (free song)

On May 5th, it’s National Liberation Day in the Netherlands. We remember being liberated 75 years ago by the Americans, British, Canadian and Polish troups on may 5th, 1945. This liberation was done ‘by force’. By the use of weapons. By bloodshed of many young man who died for the liberty of others.

This song has been written to honor all those that died for freedom, all those that suffered from war. And to remember us there are still many who suffer from war, all over the world. Since I do not want to make money off this specific track, it’s available as a free download at SoundCloud and Drooble.

The track is also included on the latest Solid Rock Blues Band Album, “Solar Powered Love”, available at BandCamp.

Free Download

Background information

Every year liberation day is celebrated with big festivals all over the country. Including (free) popfestivals. In the province of Groningen, where I live, they planned to have a big festival also in the main capital, the city of Groningen. Singers/songwriters, bands and others were invited to write an original song about the liberation, under the name “Sounds of Freedom”. But the corona (covid19) virus also hit our country. I wrote a song for this contest, inteded to do a demo-recording, and hoped someone would be willing to (record and) sing it for the contest.

I expected the contest to be postponed, just like the festival. But it wasn’t. So, I missed out on the change to submit it but decided not to leave the song in some drawer and finished the recording to be included on the new album. On this track I played all instruments: drums, bass, guitars.

And yes, I also did the vocal track 🙂

Your Life On Facebook Solid Rock Blues Band

Your Life On Facebook (Twitter, Instagram, Tinder, ..)

Social Media is all around us. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tinder, SnapChat, Youtube. We can’t live without, can we? Well, perhaps we can but we love being online. And of course we all like to life that glamorous life we see others have. So we fake it. Fake it till you make it right?

Here’s a song about Social Media. How one portrays him or herself on it. And how someone else might be looking at this social media life of the other person.

The song was written in parts on snippets of paper, collected and put together, over a period of time. Video was created using free stock video downloaded from Pexels.com. Recorded at the LoftStudio Home Recording Studio using the Digitech Pedal for drums and bass, Harley Benton Telecaster and MXL770 as vocal mic. Recorded using Mixbus5 (DAW). It is, for now, available on Youtube and BandLab.

LIFE ON FACEBOOK

May your life, be as great
as it is on Facebook
May the sun, always shine
as it does on your Insta

No I got no interest
for your feed on pinterest
don’t care for your moodboards no more
And I really don’t know
why I should be looking
at the carpets you want for your floor

(chorus)

And your tweets on Twitter
always sound so bitter
is it really that cool to swear
Do you really think we all
want to know
you don’t know what clothes to wear

Swipe left, swipe right!
Where to spend the night
Who’ll be knocking at your door
It’ll come as no surprise
some won’t be nice,
it ain’t love they’re looking for

(chorus)

It ain’t me stalking
I can just see you walking
SnapMap tells me all
I want you to be,
happy and free
but can I just give you one call?

(chorus)

May the sun, always shine
as it does on your insta
May the sun, always shine
as it does on your insta

Figgy Pudding – Free Christmas Song

It’s the time of the year again, Christmas is almost here! So here it is: Figgy Pudding. A free Christmas song. You can download it for free at SoundCloud or listen at Drooble.

ABOUT THE SONG

The song was written many years ago and recorded in 2014 using a Fostex 4Track Tape-deck. For the backing (drums, bass, keyboard) we used Chordpulse; vocals and guitars were recorded straight into the Fostex and mixing was also done on the Fostex. After that it was exported to digital format and mastered with Mixcraft. So basicly this is as analog as it can get these days.

Al We Talk About Is You – Official Video Released

What’s it we talk about today? You! All we ever talk about is You. Always. And I don’t mind. Let’s be clear about this. Narcissism is very good for your own EGO. Right? So let’s write a song about!

The video was created using royalty free stockvideo and edited using FlowBlade (Linux video editing). The song was written together with my friend James and features Judith S. (not the lady in the video) on vocals.

Prefer online streaming instead of YouTube? Try Drooble. Want to be kind to us? Buy the song or even the album! It’s available at CDBaby and BandCamp.

This is the new single from our latest release, “The End Of The Street“. Please see this post for detailed information about the release.

Lottery Tickets, aren’t they cool?

Lottery Ticket, You’re so cool – You keep me dreaming, One Day Soon – I’m nobody’s fool!

Isn’t that what we all dream about? To say to the boss “I’m out of here”? To tell the landlord we’re moving out because we’ve bought a house ten times bigger than he has? And drive over to the new house in a brand new car?

Last week I heard an interview on the radio about the lottery – it inspired me to write this upbeat “Rock and Roll”  song. Just imagine what you could do only if.. – that’s a big IF of course. So many people hope for this big break. And some keep on hoping, all of their life. Gambling, big or small, is a big issue in society these days. Well, in fact it has been for centuries. Many songs were written about it. Here’s my take on this.

The End Of The Street (free single)

Today we’re releasing another (free) brand new track! The End Of The Street, a sad, bluesy, song about a love affair that went wrong. You can listen for free (streaming) at Drooble or BandCamp. The free download is available at BandCamp.

Download from Bandcamp:
https://barkingaunts.bandcamp.com/track/the-end-of-the-street

The track was recorded at our home recording studio, the ZolderStudio (LoftStudio). It’s the first new release recorded at the new studio!

It took about a year to finish this song. After writing the initial first verse and chorus and recording it on a smartphone we’ve been working on it off and on. The first acoustic versions were recorded but we didn’t like them. Rewrote part of the lyrics and rerecorded it in a ‘full band setting’.

Recording details:
Drums, Bass – Digitech Trio
Guitars, Vocals, Keyboard – Rudy
DAW: Ardour

There are only 200 free downloads/month available at BandCamp. If you’d like to, however, you can support us by paying a small fee! We’d really appreciate that!

When Money Talks (Free Single)

The recent earthquake in Groningen, last Wednesday, with a 3.4 Magnitude inspired me to write this song the same day it happened.

Free Download at:
https://soundcloud.com/barkingaunts/when-money-talks

The song was recorded last Sunday at the Home Recording Studio “De Zolderstudio” in less than two hours. It was written out of anger, frustration. We live close to the area where the earthquakes are. Some smaller ones have been in our are – damaging houses, schools, infrastructure. We’ve been waiting for the politicians to start making changes. To stop the gas extraction that ruined thousands of houses. They will not listen. Since it seems Money Talks a lot louder ..

WHEN MONEY TALKS
All rights (c)2019 Solid Rock Blues Band

My back was aching
and my hands were shaking
I got up
Outside it’s raining
and the kids complaining
oh shut up

Promised me the moon
you’ll be a rich man soon

When the money comes in
They will be your friend
ain’t it cool
If it’s money that talks
They’ll act like hawks
I’m no fool

Such a fool am I
Never wondered why
they’re coming down
from capital city
The news they got
it ain’t so pretty
pumpin’ (the) gas
out of the ground
say it makes
the world go around

The earth starts movin’
Oh What are they doin’
To my land?
Heard the loudest thwack
And the walls they crack
empty hand..
