Solid Rock Blues Band 2022 Release “Stone-Blind” out now!

New 2022 Release Stone-Blind

The long awaited release of the Solid Rock Blues Band’s latest album Stone-Blind is here! Today the album including eleven original rock, blues, country and folk songs was released after over a year of writing and recording.

Stone-Blind is the 20th release of singer-songwriter & composer Rudy’s studio band projects!

The album is available trough BandCamp (Hq audio!), SoundClick, SoundCloud and AudioMack at the moment. It will be available trough the major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon also later on.

Stone-Blind

Blinded by love, fear, resentment, circumstances, politics, social developments. In 11 songs with blues, rock and folk influences, an exploration of today’s society. With all its beautiful but also dark sides. Loss, broken hearts, death and destruction. But also a nice walk, love and sometimes… a feeling of joy and happiness.

The album is available for download for only €5 at BandCamp and US$5 at SoundClick. At BandCamp and SoundClick there’s a free, acoustic, bonustrack included you can download at no cost.

Recording and production

On the album you will find two co-writes, “Gave Up on Givin’ Up” and “Stones for Bread”. Al songs were recorded and mixed at the home recording studio the LoftStudio, Groningen, The Netherlands. Several songs were already released as (digital) singles and reached Top10 positions on Drooble and SoundClick.

They say every instrument has it’s own song and we can’t agree more. After buying a new, budget but great sounding, Les Paul guitar this song erupted out of it! The Fat Man’s Blues – the man that loves burgers more than his lady.

A fun rock-song with heavy distorted guitars and a catchy hook. Listen for free at Drooble, SoundCloud and BandCamp. Like it? You can download it from BandCamp for only 75 cents.

About the Song

This song was recorded at The LofStudio. We used a free drum backing track, the Harley Benton MM 84A SB Deluxe Bass, Ibanez AS53-TF Hollow Body guitar and a brand new addition to the studio, a Donner DLP-124S (Les Paul). Vocals recorded using the MXL770 Studio Condenser. The basic recording was done using Ardour and final mixing and production with Mixbus.

This song will be part of the new album we’ve been working on for some time now. So far we haven’t had enough time to record all the songs because there were so many other (recording) projects going on at the LoftStudio and a busy work schedule.

A review of the great and very affordable Donner DLP-124S is in the making. We’ll post that later.

Don’t Say We’re Over. Out now on Spotify!

Don't Say We're Over Album pre-releaseIt’s here! Don’t Say We’re Over has been officially released this week and is now available on Spotify and other online streaming services! Of course it is also still available on BandCamp since that’s where we have made our complete (back) catalogue available.

The official album release was done trough Amuse. We are considering re-releasing some older albums trough Amuse also, making them available (again) to the public trough services like Spotify and Amazon Music. Our experiences with DistroKid were fine so far but didn’t turn out to be successful in terms of sales. So we’re giving Amuse a try for distribution! So far, so good! Amuse has delivered the album to all platforms we’ve opted for and all went perfectly well.

Al We Talk About Is You – Official Video Released

What’s it we talk about today? You! All we ever talk about is You. Always. And I don’t mind. Let’s be clear about this. Narcissism is very good for your own EGO. Right? So let’s write a song about!

The video was created using royalty free stockvideo and edited using FlowBlade (Linux video editing). The song was written together with my friend James and features Judith S. (not the lady in the video) on vocals.

The End Of The Street (free single)

Today we’re releasing another (free) brand new track! The End Of The Street, a sad, bluesy, song about a love affair that went wrong. You can listen for free (streaming) at Drooble or BandCamp. The free download is available at BandCamp.

The track was recorded at our home recording studio, the ZolderStudio (LoftStudio).It’s the first new release recorded at the new studio!

It took about a year to finish this song. After writing the initial first verse and chorus and recording it on a smartphone we’ve been working on it off and on. The first acoustic versions were recorded but we didn’t like them. Rewrote part of the lyrics and rerecorded it in a ‘full band setting’.

Spotify for Artists 2018

Spotify has just released the statistics over 2018 and as an artist you can see how many streams your songs got, how much time people spend on listening to your songs and some more.

For us, it was a nice surprise to see how many streams the songs got. I’ve always been curious about this and now, finally, I can get some insights from Spotify directly instead of the statistics from CDBaby, Tunecore and the like.

Much to my surprise, it seems people listened to the “Down for the Count” album a lot: 815 streams and 2k minutes (yes, that’s well over 33 hours!). Despite this, no sales from or related to Spotify. And if you’re in it for the money, don’t trush to be able to make a living out of it unless your name is Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen or Bob Dylan. But even they won’t get much payments from Spotify.

Full Back Catalog Now Available as a FREE Download!

As of today, the full back catalog of the former “Barking Aunts Project” and the “Solid Rock Blues Band” are now available for FREE at the BandCamp website.

Except for our most recent Single, No Limit (On Love) all albums, EP’s and other materials are now available as a “whatever you can afford” FREE download.

The only thing we ask in return is your email address, so we can send you updates about the projects and albums. Don’t want to receive email updates? Donate a small fee and we won’t bother you!

WHY DID WE DO THIS?!

You might wonder why we are now offering all music as free downloads. The reason for this is simple: over the years we’ve spend a lot of time and effort in recording music. Publishing it. On Spotify, for example, this resulted in well over 33,000 plays/streams. We got paid US$ 1.35 for those 33,000 streams. That’s what we consider a total and complete insult. So, since they’re giving it away – why don’t we? And get something in return: a way to get in touch with the people listening to our songs.

We will continue to make singles, albums and EP’s and make them available on commercial platforms (since they will put them on Spotify, iTunes and so on). But on our BandCamp page you can get them for free. Except for the most recent publication. So, the back catalog, as of now, will be free. Forever. As soon as we publish something new, it will be for sale and the previous single, album or EP will be set to “free download” and so on.
