Troebel Water (Nederlandstalig) – Dutch folksong – Gratis Download

Troebel Water

I had to setup my laptop for a recording session next saturday. While doing so, I grabbed my notebook with songlyrics and decided to do a ‘lo-fi’ recording of a song I wrote, Troebel Water, back in 2015.

The recording was intended as a “test” of the setup (AKG mic, DI for the guitar, mixer, laptop, Ardour DAW).I used my old six channel Behringer mixer connected to the laptop with a Behringer A/D converter.

I liked how this simple version of this song turned out so I’ve decided to publish it on SoundCloud. Free download. Hope you like it, even if you don’t understand the words.

Troebel Water (with Lyrics)

Lyrics – all rights ©2015-2022 R. Brinkman

Mag ik aan je denken,
als de nacht zo eenzaam is,
mag ik aan je denken,
als’k in troebel water vis
mag ik aan je denken
als ik je weer mis

een arm om jou heen
de schouder die er niet meer is
ik praat er niet omheen,
troebel water, troebel water,
waar ik in vis

Mag ik aan je denken,
als ik weer dat liedje hoor
mag ik aan je denken,
als ik sta in het decor
mag ik aan je denken,
en weer eens ontspoor

een arm om jou heen
de schouder die er niet meer is
ik praat er niet omheen,
troebel water, troebel water,
waar ik in vis

Mag ik aan je denken,
als je mij vergeet,
mag ik aan je denken,
als jij het niet weet,
mag ik aan je denken,
als ik de foto zie,
… die uit m’n handen gleed

By The Hand Of Men (Original Easter Song, Acoustic)

By The Hand of Men original acoustic song about Easter

Live Acoustic recording from the livingroom “By The Hand Of Men”. An Easter Song. He’s Alive! Happy Easter!

It’s not easy to write an original song about the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The resurrection of Christ is sung about in many songs.

These words came to me a few days ago. There was no time to record it in the studio so I recorded the song in an acoustic version with my smartphone in the living room.

BY THE HAND OF MEN
(original easter song)
All rights ©2022 reserved R. Brinmkan, Solid Rock Blues Band

On a Cross, on a hill
He died by the hand of men
On a Cross, long ago
We remember now and then

(chorus)
On a Cross, long ago,
A sacrafice, the dices rolled
On a Cross, on a hill
He died by the hand of men

Lord above, why oh Lord
Hast Thou forsaken me,
Lord above, in Your hand
I command my soul

(chorus)

Death no longer scares us now
The lamb that rose out of the grave
Defeated darkness, out for our soul

On a Cross, long ago,
A sacrafice, the dices rolled
On a Cross, on a hill
He died by the hand of men
He died by the hand of men ..

Pandemic Blues – Acoustic Home Recording

pandemic corona virus blues

There’s no way to escape from the coronavirus and the news about it these days. It inspired me to write a song, recorded in my living-room. Fear mongers and fake news aside, this is a critical situation we’re in. A pandemic that is sweeping over the world. It has spread and still is spreading like wildfire at the moment.

For all of you that have been hit hard by the corona crisis and those worried what’s going to happen next. This pandemic will change our lives for months, perhaps years or even decades to come. Stay strong! Don’t be overwhelmed by fear and please listen to those in charge: keep your social distance and if possible stay away from others as much as you can.

Acoustic session – Live from the livingroom.
Recorded using my Motorola Moto G7 smartphone
Edited with Flowblade (Linux Mint).
Guitar: Samick Greg Bennett.

Lay Lady Lay – Classic Bob Dylan song

Bob Dylan has been an inspiration to me and many, many, other musicians for decades. His music has been sung and recorded by thousands of singers and bands and inspired many people to start a career in music and write songs. So far he’s also the only artist who ever won a nobel prize!

For me, Dylan has been an inspiration ever since I picked up a copy of “Shot of Love” at a sale. I was only 13 years old and had read a review of this album in a Christian magazine. They were raving about it but, as I later found out, most fans didn’t like Dylan’s “gospel years” at all. This has changed btw. Even Rolling Stone Magazine is now raving about it, after he rereleased the music from this period including a lot of live recordings. Anyway – I bought the album and started digging back. I ended up buying almost all his albums, visiting his concerts (Groningen, Rotterdam) over the years that followed. And still do.

Dylan is a master of words. Many of his songs are pure poetry but also show the raw side of life. Hurricane, anyone? And also in this song. Lay Lady Lay. It sounds so lovely, but listen to the words! I always loved it. I also recorded it. It is with some restraint that I post it. This is, for now, as it is and it is a work in progress btw. Some changes in the drums need to be done (by another percussionist). But I’d like to post it now. Hope you like it!

Acoustic Studio Sessions – Knocking on Heaven’s Door

What better way to celebrate using a new studio than recording a classic, acoustic, folk song? The ZolderStudio (LoftStudio) has moved! So I did some test recordings and one of them is Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”. And I did not only record the song, I made a video of the recording session.

It’s just a simple “one-take recording” using my MXL770 for vocals, a t.Bone EM700 for the guitar and I’ve used the Behringer UMC404HD as an interface. The DAW I’ve used was Ardour (Linux).

MOVING TO A NEW STUDIO
I’ve also made a short video about the move to the new studio. A full studio tour will be made as soon as the studio is setup completely. I’m still waiting for acoustic foam, ordered a floor carpet and there are now new monitor speakers too. So subscribe to the channel to receive updates!

Full Back Catalog Now Available as a FREE Download!

bandcamp albums available for free download
As of today, the full back catalog of the former “Barking Aunts Project” and the “Solid Rock Blues Band” are now available for FREE at the BandCamp website.

Except for our most recent Single, No Limit (On Love) all albums, EP’s and other materials are now available as a “whatever you can afford” FREE download.

The albums can be downloaded here: https://barkingaunts.bandcamp.com/

The only thing we ask in return is your email address, so we can send you updates about the projects and albums. Don’t want to receive email updates? Donate a small fee and we won’t bother you!

WHY DID WE DO THIS?!

You might wonder why we are now offering all music as free downloads. The reason for this is simple: over the years we’ve spend a lot of time and effort in recording music. Publishing it. On Spotify, for example, this resulted in well over 33,000 plays/streams. We got paid US$ 1.35 for those 33,000 streams. That’s what we consider a total and complete insult. So, since they’re giving it away – why don’t we? And get something in return: a way to get in touch with the people listening to our songs.

We will continue to make singles, albums and EP’s and make them available on commercial platforms (since they will put them on Spotify, iTunes and so on). But on our BandCamp page you can get them for free. Except for the most recent publication. So, the back catalog, as of now, will be free. Forever. As soon as we publish something new, it will be for sale and the previous single, album or EP will be set to “free download” and so on.

Day By Day – Free Gospel Album (EP)

“Day By Day” contains six strong, classic, spiritual songs (hymns) in a more modern setting: instead of organs and choirs, you will hear a band using Drums, Bass, Guitars and Harp. The title track, Day By Day, was written in 1865. Most of the tracks, except for one original song, date back at least 100 years and have been popular for many decades in congregations all over the world.

Over the years I’ve recorded several gospel songs (traditionals). Of course, not as you might know them from Church. Some are a little more up-tempo. Instrumentation has been modernized. Drums, Bass, Guitar, Harp. All recorded at the “ZolderStudio” home recording studio.

At this moment the EP (only available exclusively on BandCamp) contains six tracks, including one original song.

Tracks inlcuded are traditional hymns like “Day By Day”, “What A Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. All songs dating back, originally, well over a hundred years yet with lyrics that still are powerful, comforting and with deep spiritual meaning.

New (first) single release Solid Rock Blues Band!

Today we’ve released our first, official, single at BandCamp, Audiomack and SoundCloud. The single, an original song written bij Rudy & James, is available for download for only US$ 0.70. You can stream it for free on all sites mentioned of course.

The song is a more-or-less acoustic folk-rock song, recorded at the ZolderStudio. The song was written and composed originally by Rudy, and after the first rough demo was recorded it was send to his friend James (aka “Le Jaz”). James wrote the bridge and came up wih some advice and suggestions for the chord progression. Yesterday the final version was recorded and mixed. Today we did the ‘mastering’ and here it is!

ALBUM

At the moment we’re still working on songs, new original recordings and covers. We expect to have enough good tracks for a debut album for the spring of 2018. We hope to be able to publish a 12 track album but it will be at least containing eight songs, including some cover songs.

LYRICS

Music & Words ©2017 R. Brinkman/J. Zheutlin
Recorded and mixed at the ZolderStudio, Noordhorn (NL)

I feel so miserable today
‘cus my girl has gone away
I feel so miserable today
‘cus my girl has gone away
I’m so lonely and miserableThere’s no way she’s coming back
she said to me
There’s no way I’m coming back
she said to me
I’m miserableIt used to be my smile
Never wandered from my face.
Now I feel like
the loneliest saddest guy
In the whole human race.
I’m miserable….
I’m miserable….

I feel so miserable today
‘cus my girl has gone away
I feel so miserable today
‘cus my girl has gone away
I’m so lonely and miserable
